Special Message From Finbar
(On the passing of our friend, Wanda Barr, an Irish Tenors devoted fan and friend)

"I was saddened to hear of Wanda's  passing. My sympathy goes out to her family and all of you who were her friends.  She was always such a smiling happy person with that infectious good humour and that twinkle that she had forever in her eye. That twinkle was still there the last time I met her in Cork, even if there was a tear or two to add extra sparkle and it proves that the spirit is stronger than the flesh. I will miss her. Her enthusiasm and warmth would be missed by any family and indeed she was a shining light among our group of musical friends and her seat will never be filled. She was always so beautifully dressed and 'turned out' (as we say in Ireland) in such impeccable fashion that she was always a joy to behold. Richly talented, generous, and tireless, she will have a special place in our hearts and our memories and she has left the world a better place, no doubt about that. I have no doubt that the angels have welcomed her into paradise. May she rest in peace."

Best Wishes to all/Finbar

Just finished a great weekend of concerts and the autumn tour has been very enjoyable. A special word of thanks again to the American contingent who took the trouble to be here for many of the concerts /Finbar

Ennis "Best Wishes" (2006)
Susan,

I was absolutely delighted and honoured to recieve the gorgeous flowers and bountiful chocolates at the theatre in Ennis. You guys just think of everything and it certainly added zest to the evening. There were many takers when it came to the chocolates - which is just as well as I would be swelling to my weight of yesteryear!!! We have at least four complete sell-outs on the list which is good: Gowran, Ennis, Cork and Derry and we are hoping for a few more. Others are reasonably well supported which is encouraging as it is an expensive show to put on and the ticket price has to be high to support it. Above all, I am enjoying it all and delighted with my new musician, Colin McLean, who is quite a performer and taking to it all like a duck to water. Again, sincere thanks to all for the flowers & chocs and I hope everybody is well and we are all looking forward to the December tour.

Birthday "Thank you" (2006)

Dear Susan & Sue [owner of a Yahoo group],
It has been a busy time and I have not had a chance to sit down at the computer and reply to emails etc. As you know my site is always in a pretty disastrous state - maybe stagnant is the word....Please pass on my gratitude to all the members of the two sites who contributed to these gifts and continue to honour me with their thoughts and good wishes every year. As you all know by now, my good friend Mattie Fox has returned to the helm and is already working hard on the future of the Irish Tenors. No better man to get results and have no doubt that we will go from strength to strength under his meticulous stewardship. I am ready now to start on another series of Irish solo concerts, and I appreciate that it is not possible for people to travel long distances to attend - needless so say, we will miss our American friends and Des Lacey on percussion and Tommy Donohue on Bass were asking after you all last Sunday at rehearsal. They really enjoyed talking to you all and the fun that you always bring to every venue! I have a new classical guitarist with me this time, Colin McLean - young and good-looking and single!!! - Gavin Murphy, who you will remember from the (RTE) tv series is playing keyboard instead of Andy who is busy with another project. Again sincere thanks...for keeping the flag flying...Give everybody lots of hugs and kisses on my behalf!!!

Slainte go leir/Finbar

(April 2006)
"It was very generous of so many people to support my Irish concerts and the Irish audiences were delighted that their American cousins had come to visit - you could tell that from their spontaneous applause each night when I mentioned that you were there!

Slainte go leir!

'Congratulations to Susan on the successful launch of the new group - naturally, I feel privileged and honored to have my name at the head of such a gathering of fabulous people from all around the world. Isn't music a wonderful gift?! It draws the spiritual strands of nature together and knows no boundaries. I hope there will be many fun-filled evenings around the cyber fire that Susan is so kindly stoking for us all; discussions, arguments of course, story-telling, enlightenment from those who are good at that, gossip(which we all disapprove of!!), and a little news from time to time about the world of entertainment and music.

The launch of this group is significant in that it coincides with the arrival of the album 'SACRED' which, in my view, is the best recording that The Irish Tenors have done to date. There are so many songs here that I love and have been wanting us to record while we are still standing - most of all 'Deus Meus' which is steeped in the culture of Ireland and brings to life the singing and praying of the ancient monks who contributed so much to the culture of western Europe during difficult times for humanity. Also, I am especially proud of Salve Regina, which, in its naked glory stripped of orchestral accompaniment, still conjures up for me the whiff of incense and an intrinsic spirituality which cannot often be matched. We can only hope that all who listen will find something special for themselves therein. I am renowned as a poor correspondent, but I will try from time to time to drop in and say 'hello' or maybe complain about something or maybe send a photo or possibly threaten to do a solo concert or something crazy like that - who knows.

Also, I would like to sincerely thank all of you who contributed seeds to my birthday gift - it is always a thrill to receive more victims for my ever expanding garden and they shall be used to populate an area called the  'Secret Garden' which is just that and is in the process of being developed at the moment!  Again, thanks to Susan for organising it all so efficiently as ever!

Anyway, my friends all, I wish you health and happiness!

Keep Smiling!
Finbar'

...my sincere thanks to all in the group for the Birthday Wishes and the gifts. I appreciate it very much. When I am in rough and tumble of concerts and travel, it all gets rushed and a little hectic - sometimes we forget to say thank you for all the wonderful support that we receive from our true & loyal fans.

Today I am enjoying the bracing sea air of Newfoundland - badly needed to clear the lungs after a long day of travel from Greenville!

Cheers/Finbar

...I know you remember John Creedon from my hit single 'Santa Claus is coming to town' as done by the 'two tenors' - well, I am joining him on his radio show next Tuesday 22 Nov. to have a chat.

Also, some people have asked me about Mary Greene - she is a fine songwriter and a lovely folk singer - if anyone wants one of her albums, they can email her at tigerdogrecords@hotmail.com - mention my name and the price goes up!

Keep Smiling/Finbar

(Christmas 2005)
...I really appreciate the gifts that you organised for Christmas and I have passed the charity contribution on to the Community Hospital in Kinsale which offers excellent respite care for all of the elderly in the local area. It is officially named St.Joseph's Hospital and is actually the hospital where I was born!!

Again, many thanks for all of your support in 2005

Happy New Year!

(August 2005)
Congratulations on the new website - thank you for the hard work that has gone into it and I hope it will be a star sparkling like a dew drop on the spider's web at dawn of day. I will never be in a position to repay such industry and dedication but I sincerely hope that it will bring happiness, satisfaction and some degree of warmth to all who happen to drop by to visit. Interesting news includes the release of a compilation album by Sony in March entitled 'The Essential Finbar Wright' which is a sampling of all the albums that I have recorded for that illustrious company over the years!
It is due out on the 17th of March (2006) in Ireland and may be on sale in the USA after that!
