RTE Guide (2005) © All Rights Reserved. Finbar Wright (Tenor) New Year Resolutions At the beginning of 2003 my resolution was to lose three stone in weight, which I did. Then at the beginning of 2004 I made a very philosophical resolution, and that was to be happy. That sounds simple and trite but I think that a lot of people's problems can be that they allow things to get on top of them. For 2005 there are a couple of plans. As a family we love hill-walking (Angela and Finbar have two children 12-year-old Fergus and Ileana who is 10). So this year we are going to climb Carrauntuohill, the highest mountain in Ireland. I have never done it before. Also I have been writing poetry for a number of years. People always apologise for writing poetry but when you consider it, I'm singing poetry all the time. Poetry is very important to me and I have written a lot over the past five to six years in particular. So I would like to collate them and get them published. I think poetry is very important and is underestimated in people's lives; from Ovid and Virgil onwards it has been very important in those societies. The spiritual, the philosophical and mystical sides of our personalities sometimes tends to be neglected. I find writing poetry to be very entertaining: it is also very spiritual and philosophical to be able to express something in succint terms.
